Fwd: XHot 2

Callaway X2 Hot Line Up

By ED TRAVIS

The 2014 version of the 'Phrankenwood' Phil Mickelson used in the
Masters and his British Open win is part of Callaway Golf line up of
clubs for the next year, the X2 Hot. Building on increases in market
share (Callaway share of fairways doubled in 2013) the company says
the new X2 Hot clubs – drivers, fairways, hybrids, irons each with a
Pro version – will be in retail outlets in mid-January.

"With the X2 Hot line, we challenged ourselves to reinvent each
product to meaningfully improve distance, speed and forgiveness across
every category," said Dr. Alan Hocknell, Callaways's Senior Vice
President, R&D. "We worked hard for every extra gram of discretionary
weight, every thousandth of an inch of metal, to increase ball speed
and overall distance while improving total performance, especially on
off-center impact."

The Phrankenwood design is reflected in the Deep series with an X2 Hot
Pro 2Deep, a 3Deep and a 5Deep offering. Stocks shafts are the same as
the driver. The new product introduction retail price is $229.99. X2
Hot fairways have a cup steel face and an updated version of their
"Standing Wave" internal weighting

X2 Hot Drivers has the Advance Optifit Hosel for player adjustment of
loft and lie independent of each other plus two lie adjustments,
either neutral or draw. The standard version has a 460cc clubhead
available in 9 degree, 10.5 degree and 13.5 degree HT lofts with an
Aldila Tour Blue shaft. The Pro, in an 8.5 degree only, has a smaller
440cc clubhead and a 7 gram external weight. The X2 Hot Pro comes with
the Aldila Tour Green shaft and price for both models is $349.99.

Hybrids in the X2 Hot line have the cup face and Standing Wave
weighting, a first in a Callaway hybrid. The result is a sweet spot
that's an amazing 13 times larger than that of the X Hot hybrid.
Standard models will come in a choice of 3-, 4-, 5- and 6-Hybrid and
16 degree, 18 degree, 20 degree and 23 degree lofts in the Pro model.
Shaft offerings are the same the X2 Hot woods and each hybrid has a
retail price of $199.99.

Standard X2 Hot irons have a deep undercut and a high MOI along with a
repositioned center of gravity – each aimed at increasing distance for
the average golfer. In the stock steel shaft (True Temper Speed Step
85) reail is $799.99. The Pro model has a thinner face, no undercut
cavity and the standard steel shaft is the Project X 95 Flighted shaft
for $899.99.
